Alagar Koil
Azhagar Koil : Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu called as Azhagar Kovil is located here. One of the Six Special abodes of Lord murugan is found atop the hill, where he graces devotees with his consorts Valli and Deivayanai. Lord Murugan played a divine prank with Avvaiyar the Tamil Saint and Poet. Skandha Sashti is the famous festival celebrated by thousands of devotees.


Koodal Azhagar
 Koodal Azhagar : This is a temple in the heart of the City, dedicated to Lord Vishnu and it is one of the 108 Divya Desams. Koodal is another name for Madurai and Azhaghar means The beautiful hence he is called Koodal Azhagar. Azhagar in three postures of Sitting, Standing and Lying down, is in three Sanctum Sanctorums one above the other. Convenient steps have been provided to reach all the floors. The shadows of Astanga vimanam does not fall on the ground. A 10 day float Festival is celebrated in the month of Masi [Feb-Mar] on the Masi Magam[star] day.


The National Gandhi Museum : This is located inside the Old Palace of Rani Mangammal. The Museum has an excellent collection of Original relics, Books, Journals , Documents, Photographs, Audio-visual materials, Exhibitions and Art pieces related to Mahatma Gandhi, Kasturbai and Indian Freedom Struggle. This museum also serves as a Resources Centre on Gandhian Studies.

The Government Museum : Madurai Museum established in the year 1980 is located in the National Gandhi Museum Complex. Interesting collections of Bronzes, Sculptures, Musical Instruments, Paintings, Geological, Botanical and Zoological specimens are on display. Training programs on Tanjore painting, Batik art, Taxidermy are conducted. In addition to this, special summer training camps on Tamil music, bharathanatyam, karate, yoga, varmakkalai, photography, glass painting, fabric painting and doll making are also conducted.
