GangaiKondancholapuramSivaganga Tank  : A millennium old tank, with a moat around it, is on the northwestern side of the Brahadeeswarar Temple. In olden days this had the underground Channels with small tanks around and served as a water body for the region.

Rajagopala Beerangi or CANNON : This is actually called as the Beerangi Medu (Cannon Mound) located on the eastern gate of the Fort. Cannon is a huge sized and qualitative display of workmanship at the top of the East Kothalam. It was used during the Nayaks period in 1650.

Punnai Nallur Marriamman : Lord Siva anointed eight Sakthis [Ashta Sakthi ] to destroy Asura Tanjan. One such Sakthi on the eastern direction is Punnainallur Mariamman. A legend goes this way: The Maratha King Venkoji maharaja went on a pilgrimage to have darshan of Samayapuram Mariamman. Midway, he stopped for rest. In his dream Mariamman appeared and asked him to go to the forest of Punnai Trees nearby to look for her. The King rushed to the spot indicated to him and he saw a white-ant hill (Putru) and built a temple around it 1680. The Maratha rulers Tulja, Serfoji also worshiped and renovated the temple during their reign. Daughter of Tulaja Raja (1729-35) of Thanjavur, who lost her eyesight due to illness and regained it on offering prayer worship at this temple. The Great saint Sadasiva Brahmmendra, shaped the white-ant hill (Putru) in the form of Mariamman and installed a powerful Sri Chakra.

Thirukandiyur [10 kms] : A temple of Lord Siva incarnated as Brahma Sira Kandeeswarar Temple. The Legend here is that Lord Siva was absolved of Brahmmahathi Dhosham. Divyadesam Hara Saaba Vimochana Perumal temple, one of the 108 Divya Desam, Pancha Kamala Kshetram are the two important temples of this town. GangaiKondancholapuram

Thiruvaiyaru [13 kms] : This town is on the banks of River Cauvery. Panchanatheswar Temple is an ancient Siva temple frequently visited by pilgrim throughout the year. This town is associated with one of the Music Trinity Saint Thyagarayar. The Music saint has composed innumerable Kritis, sung and researched by Carnatic Music vocalists all over the world. Elaborate Annual Festival called Thyagaraya Aradhanai for the music saint with his Pancha Rathna Krithis rendered by all including the Popular and Elite Carnatic Music Vocalists and Instrumentalists. Thousands of ardent fans of Classical Music assemble from all over the world.

Grant Anicut [48 kms]: It is also called as KAL ANAI, 330 m long, 20 m wide was built by the popular Chola King Karikala Cholan in the 2nd century across the River Cauvery. It is an exhibition of a great engineering marven of that period.
