EXCURSIONS

Crocodile Bank [44 kms] : Rom and Zai Whitaker established the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust in 1976 with a specific goal of breeding the crocodile population of the Mugger (Crocodylus palustris), the Saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) and the rarest Gharials (Gavialis gangeticus). The Trust included Turtles, Lizards and Snakes and extended the trust as the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Center for Herpetology in 2003.
